The 1.34 version of the CIFS client has been released. This version i
includes many improvements:
- NT 4 servers are now better supported.
- A umount.cifs user mount helper has been added.
- The cifs client can now optionally handle some of the reserved
characters (such as colon) in filenames.
- A key client file caching bug was fixed.
- Stability under stress is much improved.
- Memory allocations by the client have been significantly reduced in
the receive path, greatly improving (in some cases ten fold)
performance under stress scenarios such as dbench.
See the changelog fs/cifs/CHANGES and fs/cifs/README for additional
details.
Download instructions, including replacement cifs files for a few
common kernels, can be found at the
project page.
This version has been submitted for inclusion in future Linux
mainline kernels.
